5 Important Risks in Freelancing.

Before you even think in stepping into the world of freelancing, you need to know the risks involved. If you are unsuccessful you will lose big time but when you do well you earn a lot.

Here are a couple of the known risks that you must be prepared in case you opt a career as a freelancer.

1. A Freelancer will not get paid every month as a salary. Here, the more you work the more you gain.

2. Risk of financial security. You wont be getting and PF, DRA, HRA or stuff like that. You wont get any health and medical benefits or pension.

3.Freelancer means You are on your own. A freelancer works individually, he or she will not have any teammates to divide and split duties. You must be focused on the deadlines. If you fail to meet the deadline, it will be totally your fault. You are the sole responsible person.

4. Social Life.  This may be true may not be. It wont be an issue with some people. When you are on your own, you will not be meeting new friends. The best thing is you will be able to strengthen the bonds that you have with old friends. If this thing is troubling you then you can join many social networking sites like facebook, myspace, orkut and yahoo chats :)

5. We need a lot from you
. This means taking decisions wisely, being responsible and become mature. You will need to face situations bravely and hope for the better day again.

As you all can see now there are tons of risks involved in freelancing. I didnt make this list to scare you but I am making you all prepared. The path will not be so easy but when you see the fruits of one's labor, you can surely state that it's all worth every paisa.

One Step Closer.

In the beginning when I was working as a full time freelancer I was roughly earning a very few US dollars. The money was enough to pay for the expenses like electricity and internet. But soon I moved up step by step similar like climbing the corporate ladder. These thing take time and if you are really hardworking and  know what you are really doing, then you can do this in less than a year. I did all kinds of jobs. I was previously working in GE - General Electric as a Technical Support Representative for 2 years. Then I worked as a Network Admin for a local firm for 2 years. But now, I am earning money from home. I am earning from the time I wake up, till I sleep. I love what I do and really do that as a hobby.
To tell you in simple words what I do now is " Support ". Yes, you won’t believe me but I give people technical and customer support to make a living. Since my childhood, I enjoyed computers and always wanted to learn how things work and I loved helping people having issues with their PC's and Gadgets. Though I took Commerce Stream, my passion for computers never ended. Now, I am happy that I am back to my passion - Technical Support. I know you might be wondering how I do that. No issues, Let me explain this to you. Success wont come to you in a day,  Sometimes you will even need to agree on gigs and contracts that gives very low money but at the same time it gives you a chance to prove that you are the best in this. And, sometimes you will experience disappointments but don’t worry guys, you should use them as lessons and challenges to make yourself better. Don't ever stop. Just keep going! In my next post I will tell you some resources and list of websites where you can try your luck and get started.
